Gold Panners,
When Ray Nutting, Jim Allen and I were at the Pleasant Valley Tent a couple of Sundays ago, a very nice and respectful reporter and her video sidekick took us by surprise, so Jim and I agreed to an interview. Looks like the report is ready for “prime time” so she asked me for some updates and clarification. Below is my response to her:
Jenavieve Hatch, California Politics Reporter, The Sacramento Bee
Thanks, Jena, for getting back to me. I believe that our secession from California is gaining momentum even faster than expected. Last Sunday we had 2 people at Walmart with a table and 2 with clipboards walking the Founders Day event in Garden Valley and between them, in just a few hours, they got 120 YES votes to separate and 0 NO votes. Not to say that some Noes didn't just walk away or some who didn't want to be bothered......
Sunday also marked the start of the 5th month of our movement going to the public. In that short time we've had to work on "best method" to reach the people with a limited budget and experimentation, hence the Surveys of YES or NO which have only been fully going on since August. In that time we've set up a method for people to vote on Substack. One of the problems we had to work out is that we want to make sure the voters are residents of El Dorado so we came up with a simplified way on Substack and on paper to use Zip Codes as an identifier that the voter does in fact have residence in El Dorado County. All we need is First Name and Zip Code. Zip codes are not 100%, but 99% is close enough for our purposes.
This is Stage One, which is the giving OUT the HOW information and gathering IN from the People the YES or NO; "Do the People of El Dorado County Want to Separate from California and Make Their Own State, YES or NO". This has to be an issue such that the People will create a groundswell to support and demand we move forward to Stage Two. Our goal is to move Stage One as quickly as possible. Again, the timetable depends upon the participation of the People giving us their vote and those taking the time to collect the vote. This will NOT be a movement of 5 or 10 years; this is a movement of NOW! In just 4 short months, between Substack and our email, we have gone from 12 to over 500 people signed up, but we need many more active participants to give us the Power of the People to commit to the hard work and study ahead to form a new government, built without adhering to the laws and regulations of California but upon the good in the county government we already have, which is Stage Two.
As a County we already have a government in place, but we will need to adjust the government to fit statehood requirements such as making our own constitution, electing a governor and congressional representatives, etc. We will need to study other states' constitutions and tax systems, etc. so that El Doradans will be confident they are not exchanging the known existing tyranny of California for the unknown, and keeping their tax money at home; and that requires the People to be involved in every Stage of this process. The YES or NO is the start of that commitment.
I look forward to the help the Sacramento Bee can give us with your honest and objective reporting.

The latest effort to break away from California is brewing in El Dorado County (newsbreak.com)
Newsbreak picked this up from the LA Times article. If you have been to any of our Town Halls or Tents, you know that no lawyer or professor will agree with the premise of El Dorado being a County before a part of a State has any standing. What they don’t understand, because they don’t study it, is that the Declaration and the original Constitution were written under God’s Law, you see it all through both documents, not Britan’s Law of the Sea. As such, we believe that Yes, being sworn in as a County before California was a State does give El Dorado standing to Undo and Redo. Also, remember that “other Property” is property owned by Congress and 46% of El Dorado County is Federal Forrest owned by Congress, as is the land that California occupies; the same California that broke its “contract of trust” with Congress, Article IV, Section 4 when it became a Democracy and NOT a “Republican Form of Government” and failed to protect its People from Invasion and Domestic Violence.
Nice job Sharon! Thanks for sharing and all that you are doing.
